Digital platform concept aiming to expand the knowledge and understanding of natural environment among children

VILD

2024 | Danmarks Naturfredningsforening (DN)

GOAL

To develop a digital platform concept that reconnects children aged 6-12 with nature – through a solution targeting parents – for Danmarks Naturfredningsforening (The Danish Society for Nature Conservation).

PROCESS & TOOLS

The project followed a full double diamond process: desk research, qualitative interviews, surveys and persona development formed the foundation. I facilitated the Design Sprint on Tuesday (ideation phase) and contributed to AI-generated visuals and icon design. Insights revealed key friction points: parental overprotectiveness and screen-time competition. The concept was prototyped in Figma for both desktop and mobile.

Methods & Tools: Double diamond, Design Sprint facilitation, qualitative interviews, persona development, Figma, Adobe Firefly, Adobe InDesign.

OUTCOME

A Figma prototype of a nature activity platform for families – with DIY guides, community features, ratings and a focus on practical, everyday integration. Desktop and mobile versions delivered.

REFLECTIONS

VILD taught me that the hardest part of user-centered design is not finding the solution – it is understanding who you are really designing for. We assumed we were designing for children, but our research clearly pointed to parents as the primary target group. That insight completely shifted the concept direction, and it is one of the most important lessons I have taken from research-driven design work.

Figma prototype of the Digital universe in form of a website, which acts as a platform for parents of children in the age between 6-12.

Handpicked images of the process, which includes brainstorming, a week of Design Sprint, customer journey, sketches, wireframes etc.

Right: Two interviews were conducted, during this project. The interview guide was created by the whole team. I was responsible for interviewing the second respondent.

Left: The Personas were created based on insights from conducted research including interviews, desk research, client data etc.
