Nowadays, in the digital age, there is a lack of understanding of the natural environment among children in Denmark. The children’s disconnection from nature is affecting their overall development as well as their ability to coexist with it.

The aim of this project is to develop a digital solution that can expand the knowledge and understanding of natural environment among children in the age of 6-12. The project mainly focuses on attracting the parents of these children without them compromising their time. Furthermore, it aims to offer parents a practical solution that can easily be implemented in their everyday lives.

This project’s further research, including surveys and qualitive interviews, revealed several obstacles. Among those were parental overprotectiveness regarding children’s exposure to nature, as well as technology’s influence on children’s free time.

The concept behind the solution of this project, involves a website that acts as a platform. The platform provides parents inspiration and guidance to nature related DIY projects and activities that they can follow and implement in their everyday lives. The platform also allows them to share their experiences and rate the activities.

Problem statement of the project:
How can VILD create a universe that promotes community for both children and parents through activities and tools focused on quality time and nature education for children?

Figma prototype of the Digital universe in form of a website, which acts as a platform for parents of children in the age between 6-12.

Left: Mobile version of the platform.

Right: AI-images generated with the help of the generative AI tool: Adobe Firefly .

Handpicked images of the process, which includes brainstorming, a week of Design Sprint, customer journey, sketches, wireframes etc.

Right: Two interviews were conducted, during this project. The interview guide was created by the whole team. I was responsible for interviewing the second respondent.

Left: The Personas were created based on insights from conducted research including interviews, desk research, client data etc.

Left: I facilitated the Design Sprint on Tuesday, where the goal was to sketch solutions. This is the presentation that was shown to the rest of the team.

Right: AI-image generated with the help of the generative AI tool: Adobe Firefly .

Figma file of the prototype embedded, both desktop and mobile version.  Feel free to look.
