Uncovering Ancient Mesopotamia through Immersive Technology

For my personal project in the Immersive Environments minor in Amsterdam, I developed a concept that merges my current field of Design and Technology with my previous studies in Near Eastern Archaeology. The project focuses on creating an immersive experience that allows users to explore the ancient world of Mesopotamia.

Building on my background in Near Eastern Archaeology, I aimed to create an experience that brings the history of ancient Mesopotamian civilizations to life. By using immersive technologies such as motion sensors and an immersive lab, the project offers an interactive and educational experience that guides users through the landscapes, architecture, and daily life of one of the earliest cradles of civilization.

The goal is not to recreate historical facts with absolute accuracy, but to focus on delivering an immersive experience – allowing users to engage with the past in a modern, interactive way. By merging the technical knowledge I have gained throughout this minor with my passion for archaeology, I have aimed to develop a project that reflects my academic journey, while pushing the boundaries of how technology and design can help preserve and share cultural heritage.
