How can we create a more interactive learning experience for middle school children?
Back in Time” is an educational VR game prototype developed to enhance interactive learning for middle school students aged 13-16. The game immerses players in different historical periods, including the present, Middle Ages, and Stone Age, through interactive storytelling. Players navigate these eras by interacting with characters and completing missions, either solo or in multiplayer mode, where one player uses VR goggles while others guide them. The game was developed using Unity for creating worlds, Blender for 3D modeling, and Premiere Pro for documenting the process. Visual mood boards were created for each scene, and 3D printing was used for a practical rune element. As a prototype, the game currently includes three scenes with future plans to add more interactive elements and expand historical content. Key lessons learned include the importance of iterative development, teamwork, and phased task management. “Back in Time” aims to combine education and technology to make history learning engaging and memorable, fostering a deeper understanding of historical events through immersive experiences.
